Formed in 2007, Heydon & Carr are now an established and trusted principal contractor delivering excellence within the retail, hospitality, commercial and residential sectors.

Our senior management team has been brought together and provide excellence in their roles.

Lawrence Harvey
Managing Director

Lawrence is ultimately responsible for the success of Heydon & Carr and is directly involved in each project from tender to completion.

Gaining a degree in Quantity Surveying Lawrence commenced his career in this field, changing codes into Contracts Management in 2006 and onto Directorship. He therefore has a balanced and holistic approach to construction processes and activities. His long experience within the retail sector provides the client with a wealth of knowledge, and he ensures that every client and project receives the required level of attention.

Importantly he will only consider opportunities that fit the business skill set and workload requirements. Lawrence’s ability to fully digest the project brief, highlighting potential risks related to design, procurement challenges or programme periods, enables the client and their teams to fully understand the challenges ahead and manage accordingly.

With projects delivered from £50k to £11m, predominantly within the refurbishment and fit out sectors for some of the most renowned retail and hospitality clients, he provides a strong support to both his and the client teams and has developed a reputation for consistent delivery and effective management, resulting in repeat business with many clients and consultants alike.

John Lewis
Contracts Director

John began his career as a carpenter over 30 years ago, working his way up through the ranks as site manager, project manager, contracts manager and therefore understands the construction process extensively. 

He has a wealth of experience delivering quality environments across the retail and hospitality sectors, constantly demonstrating the skills and attitude to drive projects through to completion. He works in collaboration with client teams, understanding the design concept and contributing ‘buildability’ ideas throughout the process.

A key strength is his ability to provide expert advice during the planning and pre-construction phase, therefore mitigating potential commercial and programme risks. During the construction phase he willregularly visit sites to monitor progress, manage customer relations and offer solutions to any issues that may arise. John’s project management and communication of design and general site queries along with his regular project reporting will be instrumental to the successful delivery of every project.

A true team player, John adds considerable value to projects and creates repeat business.

Steve Dalby
Commercial Manager

As Commercial Manager, Steve is an integral part of our team, ensuring the smooth control of the financial management of the project, including the supply chain accounts. He will ensure the client and their team are regularly informed of any cost alterations, and along with the Contracts Manager will ensure the correct supply chain is appointed for the scheme.

With a hands on and positive approach, Steve has a proven track record of delivering retail spaces, while maintaining relationships with both the professional teams and our supply chain.

Steve will provide clear and accurate information, enabling swift decisions to be made resulting in project success which enhances our reputation.

Paul Wright
Project Manager

An astute and experienced Project Manager, Paul is vastly experienced in the retail and hospitality sector, providing schemes with a mature attitude, creating a collaborative relationship between staff which is key to successful delivery.

Paul controls projects via verbal and written communications in an effective and pro-active manner which is so important in fast-track refurbishment schemes. While providing a controlled working environment for all sub-contractors, he has an impeccable ‘eye for detail’ ensuring construction is carried out in an accurate and efficient manner.

Paul has recently delivered complex schemes in Selfridges, which have brought many plaudits due to the manner in which he controls delivery. He creates strong relationships with the client design teams and is a real asset to any project.

His extensive knowledge of the policies, procedures and regulations relating to construction also creates a safe working environment.
